Day 25

So early today, late last night I was cruising with the guys. One of my friends was telling me a story he heard from a priest. He was telling me how most people focus too much on the good things in life that they have no room for the great things in life. He started the story with a father and his son walking on the sea shore. The son was picking up little broke pieces of sea shells and holding them in both hands. Though broken and small, they were still shiny and beautiful. As the little boy was busy picking up the shells, his father noticed a starfish floating in the ocean. He told his son to go get it. The son ran to the water, stopped and walked back toward his dad. He attempted again to go in the water and get the starfish but he stopped and turned back toward his dad. His dad asked him why he didn't want to get the starfish. The son wasn't afraid of swimming out to get it. Actaully he was a really good swimmer. The boy replied to the dad that he wanted to, but his hands were too full of his broken sea shells to pick up the starfish.

My friend who told me this is a really strong persn, physically and emotionally. I mean, he went through surgery in his shoulder which popped outta it's socket! He's now facing some hard emotions and I admire him for his strength. But he's focusing on the little good things. I don't think he knows this, but I think God has something so much greater than all the sea shells he's holding right now. Though the sea shells should be precious to him, he must let it go to make room for whatever God has planned for him.

I have a few things to let go also. They have been special to me, but now I have the greatest. It's just those small good things in my life that are taking too much space that I don't have enough room for the blessing God has given me.

Anyways, enough of this smushy stuff! Haha. I finally bought a prom dress [: I really like it. I spent more than I wanted to on it, but I think it's worth it. Lol. It's only junior prom and I have no one to impress, but dang this dress is hot! Haha.

Day 25: isaiah 40:31 says the boy with the shiny shells.
